On 21/9/2018, following the successful events in Da Nang and Da Lat, the Embassy and Consulate General of the Netherlands in Vietnam continue to hold the Dutch Days with the theme “Intelligent Port and Economy “in Hai Phong. This is a part of the activities to celebrate the 45th anniversary of Vietnam and the Netherlands diplomatic relations.

The two-day event was opened by the Dutch Ambassador, Elsbeth Akkerman, Saigon Newport Corporation, Vietnam’s largest container port operator in Vietnam and the International Container Port (HICT). After the visiting the port, Ambassador Elsbeth Akkerman had a friendly meeting with Chairman of Hai Phong People’s Committee Mr. Nguyen Van Tung and leaders of Department of Foreign Affairs, Department of Planning and Investment, Center for Trade Promotion and Association the Netherlands – Hai Phong.

On the same day, the “Planning for the future for Hai Phong – Intelligent urban planning and circulating economy – The approach of the Netherlands, the basis for the port city sustainable development and prosperity ” workshop was held with the attendance of Ambassador Elsbeth Akkerman, Vice Chairman of Haiphong People’s Committee Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh and a large number of Dutch and Vietnamese businesses. The presentations focused on two main topics: Combining Hai Phong’s strengths, ports and logistics to build a smart and modern port economy; and to build sustainability in future planning for Hai Phong. Many experts from the Netherlands exchanged practical experiences in the field of seaport development.

Also in the series of activities to commemorate the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, the movie “Super Thugs – Super Thugs” based on the very successful book by Dutch writer Mirjam Oldenhave Screened at the Lotte Theater.
