STC Group, Headquartered in Rotterdam – the Netherlands, is the world’s leading professional education organization in training, consulting and applied research in logistics, maritime and industrial seaports. Operating in Vietnam since 1990s, STC Group has successful supported a number of inland waterway transportation projects, training programs, joint ventures, student supports, Labor, consultancy to companies and the government of two countries in order to promote the development of this industrial field in Vietnam. Many students and sailors, from seafarers to captains, have been trained by STC-Group’s simulation system to perform various duties on board and inland watercraft.

Waterway Transport College No. II is one of the organizations that STC Group has chosen as a partner for training in Vietnam and in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Since 1999, the STC Group has invested a training ship and a wide range of equipment for the ship’s shipping industry in the College, the both sides have jointly developed training programs for many other disciplines locally, and 25 lecturers have been sent to the Netherlands for intensive training.

On October 25, 2018, representatives of Waterway Transport College No. II and representatives of STC Group had a workshop on crew training in the College. The workshop was chaired by Bui Dinh Thien – Secretary of the Party Committee cum Rector, the Board of Management, the functional departments and teachers of Waterway Transport College No. II. The STC Group side were Mr. Frits. Gronsveld Chairman and CEO, Mr. Albert Bos Director of STC Holding B.V, Ms. Nguyen Thu Thuy Chief Representative of STC Group in Vietnam, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Tham Project Manager.

The two sides have reviewed the training programs for trainers in the past 15 years, new training opportunities for improving the quality of lectures, examined the existing training facilities and simulation systems and discussed a solution for upgrading or extending as well as other issues.

Closing the workshop, on behalf of the Board Management of College, Mr. Bui Dinh Thien expressed his sincere thanks to the STC Group for its valuable support during this time. The two sides recognized their efforts to train crewmembers as well as the need for further training and upgrading the skills and knowledge of lectures, and agreed to continue cooperation in the coming time.
